About NALSA

The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), constituted under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, works to provide free and competent legal services to weaker sections of society and organizes Lok Adalats for amicable settlement of disputes. It plays a pivotal role in ensuring access to justice and promoting legal awareness across India.

About the Internship

NALSA has announced its Internship Programme 2026, designed to acquaint law students with the functioning of legal services institutions. The programme offers hands-on exposure to NALSA’s schemes, modules, SOPs, and field activities, thereby fostering practical understanding of access to justice initiatives.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to students pursuing a 3-year LL.B. or 5-year Integrated Law Course from recognized universities/institutions.
  • Preference will be given to students in advanced years (3rd–5th year of Integrated LL.B. and 2nd–3rd year of 3-year LL.B.).
  • Applicants must have secured at least 60% marks in the previous academic year/semester.
  • Internship requires full-time physical attendance; no parallel courses/work are permitted.

Duration & Mode

  • August 18 – August 31, 2026 (14 days).
  • Offline (Physical Internship) at NALSA, New Delhi.

Internship Highlights

  • Orientation on NALSA’s functioning and objectives.
  • Study of schemes, SOPs, modules, and statistical reports.
  • Field visits to Delhi State Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authorities, Legal Aid Defense Counsel Office, and National Lok Adalat.
  • Exposure to Remand Courts, CAW Cells, DM Office, and other institutions.
  • Visits to the Supreme Court Mediation Centre, Supreme Court Library, and Supreme Court Legal Services Committee.
  • Concluding interaction with NALSA officials and group photograph.

Guidelines

  • Dress Code: Formal Black & White attire (Bar Council of Delhi).
  • Office Timings: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Saturday.
  • Attendance: 90% mandatory for certificate issuance.
  • No stipend/remuneration; interns must arrange their own accommodation and carry laptops.
  • Local travel to courts/offices may be required.

    • Expression of Interest (one-page write-up)
    • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from appropriate authority
