1st National Article Writing Competition – DNLU, Jabalpur

Theme: Environmental Law

The Centre for Research in Environmental Law (CREL) at Dharmashastra National Law University (DNLU), Jabalpur, in collaboration with the GNLU Centre for Environment, Sustainability, and Climate Justice and Gujarat Maritime University, is organizing the 1st National Article Writing Competition (2026).

This initiative aims to foster critical and interdisciplinary discourse on pressing issues of environmental law, climate change, and sustainability, encouraging innovative legal scholarship.

Themes

Participants may choose one theme only from the following:

  • Ecocide as the Fifth International Crime – expanding ICC jurisdiction
  • Rights of Indigenous Communities – traditional knowledge in climate governance
  • Airspace Pollution – addressing regulatory gaps in atmospheric law
  • ESG Fraud & Greenwashing – corporate accountability in sustainability
  • Climate Surveillance & Data Colonialism – technology and power in the Global South
  • Sustainable Development vs. Energy Security – legal tensions in climate crisis
  • Geopolitical Fragmentation – Global South perspectives on international environmental law
  • Sustainable Finance & Banking Regulation – aligning capital flows with climate commitments
  • Investor-State Arbitration vs. Environmental Regulation – balancing sovereignty

Submission Guidelines

  • Format: Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx)
  • Abstract: Not exceeding 250 words, indicating chosen theme
  • Word Limit: 3,000 words (excluding footnotes)
  • Co-authorship: Permitted up to two authors
  • Originality: Work must be unpublished and original
  • Plagiarism Limit: 10% | AI Usage Limit: 20%
  • Citation Style: Bluebook / ILI

Registration Details

  • General Students:
    • Single Author – ₹350
    • Co-authorship – ₹600
  • DNLU/GNLU/GMU Students:
    • Single Author – ₹250
    • Co-authorship – ₹400

Registration and submission are via the official Google Form. Payment details are shared upon registration.
