HNLU Lawyers Fellowship Programme | Justice Connect
About the Initiative:
Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, under its flagship programme “वि धि सारथी – Justice Connect”, announces the Lawyers Fellowship Programme to strengthen access to justice and empower early‑career litigators at the district level in Chhattisgarh.
Position Details:
- Name of Position: Litigation Fellow
- Monthly Stipend: ₹22,000
- Number of Fellowships: 10 (2 Fellows each from Raipur, Durg, Rajnandgaon, Bilaspur, and Balodabazar)
- Duration: 18 months (extendable based on performance)
- Location: Assigned district with periodic travel across Chhattisgarh
Eligibility Criteria:
- Graduate of a 3‑year or 5‑year LL.B. programme with minimum 55% marks/CGPA
- Enrolled with a State Bar Council (AIBE qualification preferred)
- Candidates with less than 2 years of practice and more than 5 years post‑graduation are not eligible
- Preference for:
- First‑generation lawyers
- Lawyers with 2–5 years of litigation experience
- Candidates actively engaged in district‑level litigation and committed to legal aid
Fellowship Objectives:
The programme addresses challenges faced by early‑career lawyers, especially first‑generation practitioners, women, and those from marginalized backgrounds. Fellows will benefit from:
- Structured mentorship by senior practitioners and faculty
- Pro bono legal aid and litigation support opportunities
- Community outreach and grassroots legal awareness initiatives
- Professional development through workshops and training
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide pro bono legal assistance to marginalized communities
- Assist in litigation, drafting, filing, and court procedures
- Conduct legal awareness and outreach programmes
- Collaborate with District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) and bar associations
- Participate in training and mentorship sessions at HNLU
- Maintain records and submit periodic reports
