About the Ministry of Law & Justice:
The Ministry of Law and Justice is one of the oldest limbs of the Government of India, tracing its origins to the Charter Act of 1833. Today, under the Constitution of India, the Ministry plays a pivotal role in legislative drafting, legal affairs, and governance.
About the Internship:
The Department of Legal Affairs (DLA) organizes this internship programme to acquaint law students and graduates with the functioning of the Ministry. Interns gain exposure to:
- Research & Referencing Work
- Court Functioning
- Tendering Legal Advice in areas such as constitutional law, administrative law, finance law, infrastructure law, economic law, labour law, conveyancing, arbitration, and contract law.
Eligibility:
- Indian students who have completed:
- 2nd year of a 3‑year LL.B. course, or
- 3rd year of a 5‑year integrated LL.B. course.
- Law graduates from recognized universities are also eligible.
- Preference for candidates with advanced computer skills (MS Office, infographics, Adobe, etc.).
Internship Details:
- Location: New Delhi
- Duration: 1 month (commencing from the first working day of each month)
- Stipend: ₹5,000
- Deadline to Apply: 14 May 2026
Application Process:
- Fill the online application form given at end of post.
- Upload relevant documents and a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your college/university (graduates need only upload their final year certificate).

Selection & Deployment:
- Selection: Up to 50 interns per month, on a first‑come, first‑serve basis, subject to shortlisting.
- Deployment: Interns will be placed with officers/sections at:
- Main Secretariat, New Delhi
- Central Agency Section (Supreme Court)
- Litigation HC Section (Delhi)
- Branch Secretariats at Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru
Internship Requirements:
- Report Submission: Monthly report with assigned research work to Admin‑I (LA).
- Certificate of Internship: Issued upon satisfactory completion (minimum 90% attendance required).
- Dress Code: Formal attire — black trousers with white shirt.
- Terms & Conditions:
- Internship is full‑time and requires physical attendance.
- Interns must arrange their own accommodation.
- Confidentiality protocols must be followed (NDA required).
- Internship does not imply employment with the Ministry.
