About The Competition:

The National Client Consultation Competition (NCCC) focuses on preventive law and counselling functions of legal practice. It simulates a lawyer‑client consultation where two law students act as attorneys, interview a client, and propose solutions.

Key Skills Tested:

  • Interviewing & listening techniques.
  • Identifying client goals and expectations.
  • Analytical problem‑solving and planning.
  • Professional teamwork and ethical conduct.

Previous Edition Highlights (2025):

  • Inaugurated by Hon’ble Justice Kurian Joseph, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India.
  • 4 rounds: Preliminary, Quarter‑finals, Semi‑finals, and Finals.
  • Winners: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi (Cash Prize ₹5000 + SCC Online subscription).
  • Runners‑up: Kerala Law Academy Law College, Thiruvananthapuram (Cash Prize ₹2500 + SCC Online subscription).
  • Participation certificates and SCC Online access for all teams.

Team Composition & Eligibility:

  • Only bona fide LL.B. students (3‑year/5‑year) are eligible.
  • Each team: 2 participants.
  • Maximum 3 teams per institution.
  • Registration on a first‑come, first‑served basis.

Competition Format:

  • Conducted online via Microsoft Teams.
  • Rounds: Preliminary → Quarter‑finals → Semi‑finals → Finals.
  • Time Allocation (30 minutes):
    • 5 min: Client room setup.
    • 15 min: Interview & counselling.
    • 10 min: Post‑consultation analysis.
  • Judges may extend time by 2 minutes; beyond that, negative marking applies.

Judging Criteria:

  • Professional approach & atmosphere.
  • Eliciting client’s problem effectively.
  • Assessing client’s goals & expectations.
  • Analytical precision & alternative solutions.
  • Teamwork & ethical conduct.
  • Post‑consultation analysis with judges.
