NHRC Online Short-Term Internship Programme | February & March 2026 | Apply Now

About the Programme:

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), under Section 12(h) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, invites applications for its Online Short Term Internship Programme (OSTI) to promote human rights literacy and awareness among university students. The Commission has been conducting internship programmes since 1998.

Internship Dates:

  • OSTI-February 2026: 2nd to 13th February 2026
  • OSTI-March 2026: 9th to 20th March 2026
  • Timings: Full-time, 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM (Monday to Friday)

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must meet one of the following:

  • Students in 3rd year or above of any integrated 5-year PG course
  • Students in 3rd/final year of a graduation course
  • Students of any year/semester of a PG degree or PG diploma course
  • Students enrolled in a 3-year LL.B. programme
  • Research scholars in any stream
  • Must have consistently secured minimum 60% marks in Class XII and all subsequent semesters

Note: Applicants must be below 28 years of age as on 1st January 2026. Those who have previously attended NHRC internships are not eligible.

Application Requirements:

  • Statement of Purpose (250 words) on: “Why I wish to join NHRC Online Short Term Internship”
  • Scanned self-attested mark sheets from 10th standard onwards, including all semesters of graduation and current course
  • Online submission only via NHRC website
  • Letter of Recommendation from HOD/Dean/Principal (dated after the advertisement release) in prescribed format (Annex-I for February, Annex-II for March)

Application Deadlines:

  • OSTI-February 2026: Apply between 2nd and 11th January 2026 (by 6:00 PM)
  • OSTI-March 2026: Apply between 19th and 28th January 2026 (by 6:00 PM)

Course Structure:

Interns will engage in:

  • Interactive sessions with NHRC Chairperson, Members, and domain experts
  • Group projects on human rights issues
  • Book review activities
  • Human rights films (child labour, trafficking, mental health, education)
  • Virtual field visits to jails, police stations, NGOs/shelter homes

Completion Benefits:

  • Stipend: ₹2000 upon successful completion
  • Certificate of Participation based on punctuality, discipline, session engagement, and timely submission of project and book review
