About the Competition:
The Brown Mosten International Client Consultation Competition (ICCC) is a prestigious annual event that began in 1969 with Louis M. Brown’s pioneering initiative in client counselling. Recognized by the American Bar Association in 1972 and expanded internationally in 1985, the competition was renamed in 1993 to honor Brown’s legacy.
In 2026, the International Rounds will be held in Zagreb, Croatia (15–18 April 2026), focusing on the theme “Use of Land.”
The ICCC provides law students with a unique platform to sharpen interviewing and counselling skills, simulate real‑world client interactions, and engage in cross‑cultural exchange. Over the years, participants from more than 30 countries have joined, including India, Australia, Germany, England & Wales, China, and the United States.

Faculty of Law, JLU:
Established in 2014, the Faculty of Law blends rigorous academics with practice‑based pedagogy. Programs include:
- Integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) & B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.)
- Three‑year LL.B.
- One‑year LL.M. (Corporate & IP Law, Cyber Law, Criminal Law, etc.)
- Ph.D. in Law
The Faculty emphasizes clinical learning, moot courts, internships, and interdisciplinary research centers in dispute resolution, taxation, IP, environmental law, constitutional studies, and criminal justice.
Competition Format – India Rounds:
- Teams: 40 law school teams across India.
- Stages:
- Client Interviewing & Counselling (25 minutes)
- Post‑Interview Analysis (10 minutes)
- Total Duration: 35 minutes per round.
- Judging Criteria: Professionalism, fact elicitation, problem analysis, client‑focused solutions, teamwork, ethics, and post‑interview reasoning.
- Rounds: Preliminary → Semi‑Final → Final.
- Theme: All problems will relate to “Use of Land.”
Timeline:
- 30 Dec 2025: Registration opens
- 20 Jan 2026: Registration closes
- 25 Jan 2026: Travel plan submission deadline
- 6 Feb 2026: Inauguration
- 7 Feb 2026: Preliminary Rounds
- 8 Feb 2026: Semi‑Finals, Finals & Valedictory Ceremony
Registration Details:
- Fee: INR 6,000 per team (includes accommodation & meals).
- Process:
- Fill Google Form & upload payment proof.
- Confirmation email from institution’s HOD/Dean/Registrar required.
- Payment via official Paytm link (non‑refundable).
Eligibility:
- Open to students enrolled in law colleges/universities recognized by the Bar Council of India.
- Participants must be pursuing a 3‑year LL.B. or 5‑year integrated law degree during the current academic year.
- Students who have previously been part of a winning team at the International ICCC are not eligible to participate again.
Team Composition:
- Each team must consist of two participants.
- Only one team per institution is permitted.
Judging Criteria:
Teams will be evaluated on:
- Professionalism and working atmosphere.
- Eliciting and analyzing the client’s problem.
- Understanding client goals and needs.
- Presenting suitable options and enabling informed choices.
- Providing a coherent conclusion.
- Teamwork and coordination.
- Ethical and professional responsibility.
- Quality of post‑interview analysis and interaction with judges.
Code of Conduct:
- Dress Code: Indian or Western formal attire only.
- Language: English throughout the competition.
- Electronic devices prohibited during rounds.
- No disclosure of identity or institution name during sessions.
- Scouting or unethical conduct will lead to disqualification.
