What Is National Law School of India University (NLSIU)?

NLSIU, Banglore was the first National Law University established in India in 1986. Consequently, the NLSIU was one of the first institutions in the country to introduce the five-year integrated law degree at the undergraduate level with the commencement of the first batch in 1988.The University’s Chancellor is the Chief Justice of India, and the Chairman of the Bar Council of India is the Chairman of the General Council. The University’s Governing bodies include representatives from the Bar Council of India, the Judiciary, the Government of Karnataka, and the Law School faculty. NLSIU has consistently strived to push for a paradigm shift in the field of legal education.

Role Description

  • Assist the Centre Coordinator and other team members in conducting literature reviews, curating relevant cases and materials, researching on contemporary themes and writing blog notes, academic papers and research reports
  • Conducting field and desk research on identified issues
  • Preparing for, organising and conducting workshops and conferences
  • Preparing progress reports and or managing other reporting needs
  • Handling administrative responsibilities under the project
  • Drafting of legal opinions, review of draft national/state policies
  • Framing proposals for funding, research and writing, training and other assignments
  • Other Centre related activities and tasks

Note: This is a full-time role, based out of the NLSIU campus in Bangalore involving field and desk research. This role will report to the Centre Coordinator.

Who Can Apply For The Job?

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognised University
  • Domain expertise/background in Environmental Law / Water Resource Governance / Urban Poor and Law
