In 2006, the Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law was established, the first of its kind in the IIT system. The School’s foundation aims to meet the demand for lawyers with technical knowledge. We consider ourselves as part of a global effort to merge technology and law in order to develop technical lawyers with skill in dealing with legal issues at the intersection of technology and law. As a result, we are the only Law School with a technology emphasis.

The School of Law offers three programmes: an LL.B with a focus in Intellectual Property Rights, an LL.M with a variety of specialisations, and a Doctoral Program in Law. The academic curriculum, in which we provide a varied selection of courses, captures the global perspective well. Many of our courses also include a comparative study of law from various jurisdictions.

Indian nationals from the SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD categories are encouraged to apply for positions as Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor at the Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, IIT Kharagpur.
