On the request of the Rajasthan government, Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) was established in 2011 as a self-financed State University. Since its inception in 2014, the School of Law has grown by leaps and bounds, now boasting over 700 students.

About the event

The organisers realise the need for a venue for law students to demonstrate and enhance their legal research and writing skills, as well as to write about themes that can affect change in our society. The fundamental goal of this competition is to inspire legal students from various Indian colleges to think critically about social concerns and assess existing legislation.

The broad theme of the competition is dedicated for social issues in order to promote the enthusiasm of young students in the legal fraternity to come up with new ideas and suggestions to decipher contemporary legal conflicts. which surround our country, providing students with a more diverse range of topics on which to write. There are no restrictions on the topic for the participants.

Eligibility Criteria
Any law student pursuing an undergraduate or postgraduate degree from a UGC-accredited university is eligible to apply.

Individual students or groups of no more than two students can register as authors or co-authors.

Topics

Any contemporary issue with critical and comparative analysis will be encouraged. However indicative list as to the diverse areas of laws are as follows:

  • The guarantee of fundamental rights under Indian Constitution: During and After Life (A critical analysis in consonance with COVID-19 situation)
  • Balancing the relationship between Indian democracy and freedom of internet: Comparative study of laws within and beyond Indian Jurisdiction
  • Privatization of Justice Delivery with special reference to civil and commercial cases in India; Future Scope and Implications
  • The “Group of Companies Doctrine” vs Party Autonomy under Arbitration Laws: Evolution, Practice, and Sanctity
  • Domestic Violence and Gender-Neutral Laws; A social gimmick or need
  • The operation of section 304B only up to seven years: The legal rationale and legislative intent. (A study on effectiveness to curb dowry death).

  • Submission Deadline: Single Author: Rs. 100/- Co-authorship: Rs. 150/-
  • The deadline for submissions is November 21, 2021.

  • 1st Runner Up: Rs. 5,000/-
  • 2nd Runner Up: Rs. 3,000
