The Covid-19 pandemic is a grave concern and to a fair extent has shown us the realities of the existing state of affairs of the prevailing infrastructure of the Nation and what could be more shocking than the sheer collapse of the Health Infrastructure connoting nothing short of a humanitarian crisis. If one could trace back the origins of the same one can easily perceive the inconsistencies in the whole aspect of tracing its origins and what adds more to the plight of the population is the rising body count every day and an everlasting quest with the people and their inner self that they are really in a pandemic stage. Proceeding further into the same nothing has hit harder the student community like this Pandemic as what can be perceived from the student’s perspective is the constant feeling of being entrapped in their relevant closed spaces entailing many consequences, however in these tough times there still exists a sense of hope and possibility of sailing through these hard times and the same is aptly delineated in the coming paragraphs
THE STUDENT COMMUNITY- STATUS QUO AND EXISTING POSSIBILITIES
Delving further for the sake of brevity the term student is to be interpreted as “Law Students” as this restrictive approach is the demand of the context of this article. The last 18 months have constantly reminded us of the good times that we all have had during our university years which is inclusive of the Stressed out exam nights, the engaging moot court competitions and the fun aspects being inclusive of- Going out and numerous memorable instances of revelling. Now, moving from the past the realities of the situation are inclusive of:- “Missing out on the past, A sense of being directionless, Online Classes and a looming sense of uncertainties about the future”
However, it should be noted that the hard times are for everyone and one day the same shall be resolved and what stands most important is the action that is required to heal the present to face the coming future with an indomitable will. As we may have observed that there exists a plethora of opinions with regards to the employment market and its demands and one thing that stands out the most is having job specific skills which defines the difference between the employed and those who could not make it. In addition to the same, it is imperative to go further with regards to the way it can be achieved and the starting point can be by having the basics brushed up once again of the relevant subjects which invoke the individual’s interest, however for those in 2nd or 3rd Year for them not having a definitive choice is not a worrying thing as good things take time but the case is not so for those senior to them as what really matters the most in the contemporary times is the presence of a streamlined set of efforts and constantly maintaining the aspect of “quality over quantity”
It is now important to take heed of the relevant tools that are to be used for the same and the first one that comes to mind is “Publications” which hold prime importance as it easily makes your prospective employers aware of your research ability and standards and moreover than being employed it’s a handy tool to develop one’s perspective over the relevant subjects, however a synchronized effort in this aspect would connote:- Having Publications in Corporate law and securities market regulations for someone eyeing for being in General corporate practice etc.
In addition to the same as previously stated developing perspective has its own importance and this can be done by enrolling and completing courses available on Harvard X, Coursera etc. that shape up the thinking style and shapes a juristic mind as none can deny the importance of the same as this also aids the students to interpret a law in their own way connoting a greater sense of clarity and understanding of the law
Another important thing that has surfaced is the presence of platforms which offer Virtual Experience Programs and no dearth of the same exists in the legal field as it’s the Courtesy of platforms such as Forage which offers the individual a brief insight over the way things operate in their relevant legal offices. The striking aspect of the same being that nowhere it is imperative on the students to conform to their work like a mirror image but only to that extent that they understand the essence of the law involved and a sense of comparative analysis between the Domestic law and the International law as one never knows when opportunity might strike. For those interested in other fields such as academics and higher Education the approach remains the same with little difference between the elements involved
THE WAY AHEAD AND CONCLUSION
As per the ways as stated above, there also comes certain aspects to be borne in mind and most importantly being the proportion in which the efforts are to be carried out and the sine qua Non that is balance between Career prospects and having time for ourselves. In pursuance to the same, all the things as stated above must be done at a friendly and a compatible pace as the present time has proven to induce a sense of anxiety in us and loading oneself with work would be unrealistic and unfair to oneself and one’s mental health which must be taken care of at every moment, as it would be fair to say that if one merely survives this pandemic that would be a greater victory and with regards to being hopeful in these uncertain times, one must always remember that:- “Hope is a good thing, may be the best of the things. And good thing never dies“
