ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University (RMLNLU) is a Public law institute located in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. As one of the Autonomous law schools in India, it is regarded as a premier law school in country. Dr. RMLNLU was established in the year 2005, and since then, has been providing undergraduate and post-graduate legal education. It has been ranked among the top law institutes in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework of the Ministry of Human Resource Development in recent years.The University is fully funded by the state government. The University has a fully urban campus and a good infrastructure

ABOUT THE SEMINAR

A little over seventy years with over 100 amendments, the Indian Constitution has withstood the test of time and endured. A no mean feat, considering the average endurance of almost 800 Constitutions created since the Athenian Constitution is a mere 16-19 years.  It’s thus an apt time to commemorate the legacy while also recognizing the challenges. And for this, Dr Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow invites you to a  The seminar would attempt to fulfill the following objectives

1. Explore and understand the Theoretical underpinnings of Transformative Constitutionalism in Indian milieu
2. Deliberate on how the Indian Constitution has been instrumental in transforming Indian society and redeeming the lives of Indian people particularly those on the margins
3. Discuss the contemporary contentious issues and the possibilities and challenges for the Transformative Constitutionalism
4. Discuss how Indian Constitution has shaped the parliamentary democracy in India and their continued and concomitant evolution in tandem

THEMES

The seminar invites original unpublished papers from legal professionals, academicians and students that may address one or more of the following themes. Papers may include, but are not limited to the following topics and writers may explore any area touching upon the theme and objectives of the Seminar

• The precincts of Transformative Constitutionalism
• Exploring Constitutional Morality
• Women, Equality and the Constitution
• LGBTQI Community- Recognition and Rights
• Minorities and the Constitution
• Inclusion, Socio-Economic Justice and the Constitution
• Sovereignty, Constitution and Democracy
• Information, Media and the contemporary democracy
• Role of the Constitution in deepening social democracy

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

1. All the submissions need to be in English and have to be made electronically
2. Participants need to submit an abstract not exceeding 300 words delineating the theme, objective and conclusions of the paper and methodology to be used for the same.
3. The abstract and the final paper must not mention the author’s name or her/his affiliation.
4. All abstracts need to be accompanied with a covering letter indicating the name, designation, Institution details, e-mail address and Telephone numbers of all the authors. Co-authorship is permitted up to a maximum of two authors.
5. The abstract and the final paper shall be accompanied by a declaration that the work submitted is original and that the content does not infringe the copyright of any other person. The University is not liable for the copyright infringements by the authors
6. Only original papers will be accepted for presentation in the seminar
7. Full Paper should adhere to the word limit of 3000-5000 inclusive of all citations, figures, charts & references
8. The accepted full papers for presentation may be published as a special volume on the Seminar Theme in the form of an edited book
9. Authors of the accepted papers will be required to register for the seminar the paper in the sessions of the seminar
10. Every submission is required to adhere to the following specifications

• Format: MS Word
• Font type: Times New Roman,
• Font Size: Main text-12, Citations-10
• Line spacing: Main text-1.5, Citations-1
• Alignment: Justified
• Citation Style: ILI mode of citation

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

1. All the submissions should be emailed to the constitutionseminar2020@gmail.com
2. Participants will be intimated of the acceptance of the abstracts by the organizers and need to submit full paper accordingly.
3. The subject line of the email should be in the following format Name of the Author_ Title of the Paper
4. Participant may take note of the flowing timelines and adhere to the same

• Dates of the Seminar: 20-21^st March,2020
• Submission of Abstract: 10^th February
• Intimation as to the acceptance of the abstract- 15^th February
• Submission of the full paper: 10^th March
• Registration: 5^th March

REGISTRATION AND OTHER CONCOMITANT DETAILS

1. Registration is compulsory for those who intend to participate in the seminar. Registration charges would cover the cost for the seminar kit and the food provided during the seminar. Accommodation shall be provided to outstation participants with extra cost subject to availability
2. The following registration charges would apply
   • For academicians : 700
   • Other professionals- Rs. 800
   • Research Scholars- 500
3. The mode of Payment and details pertaining to participation shall be intimated upon the acceptance of the abstracts
