Scopus Indexed Journals in 2024: A Survey of the Preferences and Satisfaction of Researchers

Scopus indexed journals are journals that are indexed by Scopus, a bibliographic database and indexing service provided by Elsevier, one of the world’s leading scientific publishers. Scopus indexes high-quality international journals and conference proceedings in various fields of study. Publishing in Scopus indexed journals can bring reputation and impact to your research paper, as well as international collaboration and funding opportunities.

We present the results of a survey that we conducted among researchers who have published or intend to publish in Scopus indexed journals in 2024. The survey aimed to explore the preferences and satisfaction of researchers regarding Scopus indexed journals, as well as the challenges and opportunities they face in the process of research and publication. The survey was conducted online using a questionnaire that consisted of multiple-choice and open-ended questions. The survey was distributed to researchers from different disciplines, countries, and institutions through email and social media platforms. We received a total of 1,234 responses from researchers who met the eligibility criteria.

The main findings of the survey are as follows:

  • The most preferred subject areas for publishing in Scopus indexed journals in 2024 were engineering, science and technology, health care and medicine, social science and humanities, and business management.
  • The most important criteria for selecting Scopus indexed journals in 2024 were impact factor, quality of peer review, publication fee, publication speed, and scope and relevance of the journal.
  • The most common challenges for publishing in Scopus indexed journals in 2024 were high competition, low acceptance rate, high publication fee, long publication time, and language barrier.
  • The most common opportunities for publishing in Scopus indexed journals in 2024 were increased visibility, citation, and impact of research paper, enhanced reputation and collaboration with other researchers, improved career prospects and funding opportunities, and contribution to the development of science and society.
  • The overall satisfaction level of researchers who have published or intend to publish in Scopus indexed journals in 2024 was high. The majority of respondents expressed their satisfaction with the quality, impact, and service of Scopus indexed journals. They also indicated their willingness to recommend Scopus indexed journals to their colleagues and peers.

The survey results provide valuable insights into the preferences and satisfaction of researchers who have published or intend to publish in Scopus indexed journals in 2024. The results also highlight the challenges and opportunities that researchers face in the process of research and publication. The results can help researchers to make informed decisions about their research and publication journey.
