National Law University, Delhi is one of the premier institutes in India for Legal training and Research. Established in accordance with National Law University Act, 2008 it has certainly grown leaps and bounds in this short period of time. With the primary objective to evolve and impart comprehensive and interdisciplinary legal education that is socially relevant. University has made a name for itself in terms of quality legal research. It has several important Research projects to its credit such as Death Penalty project, project on impact and implementation of Juvenile Justice Act, 2000, UNDP Project on Access to Justice for Marginalized peoples etc.
The Centre for Environment Law, Policy and Research (CELPR), established in August 2016, seeks to promote legal education, research and extension activities in the field of Environmental Law. The Centre aims to take up projects that shall herald the confluence of academic and expert insights on environmental issues pertinent to contemporary times. A major goal of the Centre is to support academic and policy-oriented dialogue that paves the way to critical insights and constructive outcomes in the area of environmental law.
Due to the underlying complexities in dealing with the issue of plastic waste, it is important to engage with all the relevant stakeholders so as to have a holistic understanding of key issues pertaining to plastic waste management. The programme will involve an eminent panel of speakers (including an academician, a representative of plastic industries, an NGO and a former CPCB official) reflecting diverse interests on the subject matter. On the occasion of World Environment Day, Centre for Environmental Law, Policy and Research (CELPR), National Law University, Delhi is organising an online programme titled “Plastic Waste Management: Issues and Challenges”.
