The Centre of Construction Law & Dispute Resolution at The Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London is a world-leading academic centre focusing on research and teaching in the area of construction law. The Centre is looking for a Research Assistant that will work on projects in the area of construction dispute resolution including international arbitration, construction adjudication and other methods of ADR. The Research Assistant will also work on non-contentious construction law and will assist with administrative tasks such as the organisation of events.  

What Are The Details Of the Opportunity?

  • Duration: 6 months At initial level  NOTE: With the possibility of extension depending on the workload and profile of the candidate.
  • Hours per Week: 35.0
  • Pay Rate: £18.08 per hour
  • Work Status: Immediate Joining 
  • Location: Centre Of Construction Law & Dispute Resolution at Dickson Poon School Of Law, King’s College London

  • Roles & Responsibilities Of Research Assistant:
    • Conduct legal research in the area of construction dispute resolution;  
    • Draft literature reviews that will form the basis for further research and funding applications;  
    • Assist with drafting publications, keeping track of any formal requirements and deadlines; 
    • Conduct editorial work in compliance with the necessary house styles;  
    • Liaise with project stakeholders; 
    • Assist with other ad hoc tasks as needed at the Centre.  
  • Experience / Skills:
    • Undergraduate degree in law, completed with an outstanding academic result (First Class or equivalent, if abroad); 
    • Interest in construction law and/or commercial dispute resolution including litigation, international arbitration and ADR; 
    • Strong legal research experience;  
    • Strong English language communication skills;  
    • Ability to multi-task and work well independently; 
    • Ability to balance competing priorities under pressure of deadlines and workload; 
    • Experience in project, or event planning and implementation; 
    • Work experience or education relevant to the Centre projects, such as an LLM or other postgraduate degree, would be an advantage. 
  • Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in law, completed with an outstanding academic result (First Class or equivalent, if abroad)
