Who Is The Organiser?

Central University of Kerala (CUK) is one of the 15 central universities established under The Central Universities Act, 2009 (Act No.25 of 2009) by the Parliament of India. The university is seated in Kasaragod, the northernmost district of the Indian state of Kerala.

The International workshop aims to provide a common platform for academicians, researchers and students to learn and exercise the different elements of academic writing in law via both inter disciplinary and intra disciplinary approaches. It is with great expectations that the Alumni Association, Department of Law, Central University Kerala in association with the Department of Law, Central University Kerala is organizing a three-day International Interactive Workshop on Legal Academic Writing on 17th, 18th and 19th January, 2024. The organizers of the Workshop call upon the legal professionals, academicians from other social science disciplines, students- both undergraduate and post graduate- and upcoming research scholars to participate in the program with a view to enhance their analytical and writing skills in law and related disciplines.

  • Co-authorship: upto two persons are permitted.
  • Excellence Awards: Awards of Excellence will be given for the best academic writings from Graduates, Post Graduates and Research Scholars categories.
  • Registration fees:
    • For graduate students: 300/-
    • For post graduate students: Rs.500/-
    • For M Phil and PhD research scholars: Rs.750/-
    • For Academicians, Teachers, and other professionals: Rs.1000/-
    • Authors of the selected entries will be informed by 12th January, 2024 and they shall register for the Workshop on or before 14th January, 2024. The registration fee also includes fee for workshop material, lunch and refreshments. The organizers will not provide accommodation to the participants.

  • Guidelines for Participation:
    • Interested participants may submit a brief write up in the form of an abstract/ synopsis on any topic of legal, social or political importance having national or international dimensions not exceeding 350 words. The write up shall be submitted for consideration on or before 08th January, 2024 to alumnilawcuk@gmail.com
    • The write up shall contain:
      • Title.
      • Brief idea of the topic.
      • Analysis indicating author’s perspective.
      • A tentative division of contents of the write up.
    • Key words: The write up shall indicate the name, designation, Institution details, e-mail address and Telephone numbers of all contributors. In case of co-authorship, each author will have to register separately in the event of participation in the workshop. Selection of entries for participation will be intimated after blind peer review. The authors may undertake a preliminary preparation for developing the write up into an article/ paper running into 2000 -3000 words as an exercise during the workshop which may be evaluated by international experts for the award of certificates of excellence. Preparation of the same may consider the following;
    • Length of the article shall be less than 3000 words (including foot notes)
    • Format: MS Word, Font Type: Times New Roman, Font Size:  12 Point, Line Spacing: 1.5.
    • For title of the Paper 14 point capitals may be used
    • Name and Designation of the author/authors shall be mentioned below the title of the paper
    • Harvard Blue Book Style (21stedition) shall be used for citation.
  • Important Dates:
    • Last date for submission of the brief write up: January 10, 2024.
    • Communication of selection of entries: January 12, 2024.
    • Last date for Workshop Registration: January 14, 2024.
