What Is Indian Law Institute?

Indian Law Institute (ILI) was founded in 1956 primarily with the objective of promoting and conducting legal research. It has made notable contribution in the legal arena. The prime objective of the ILI is to cultivate and promote the science of law and to contribute substantially in reforming the administration of justice, so as to meet the socio-economic aspirations and needs of the people through law and its instrumentalities. The Institute has achieved the place of a premier center of national & international legal research and studies, in which the lawyers from all branches of the profession, judges, government officials and academicians have been participating.

What Are The Courses Offered By ILI For Admissions?

  • Ph.D. in Law: Intake 12

Note: Regular classes will be held during course work period of 6 months.

  • LL.M.-One Year Programme: Intake 53

Note: The duration of the course is 1 year comprising of 2 Semesters. Regular classes will be held in ILI from Monday to Friday from 9.30 a.m. onwards. Students will be informed well in advance about the schedule.

  • PG Diploma Programmes (Duration is 1 year):
    • Alternative Dispute Resolution: Intake 143
    • Corporate Laws and Management: Intake143
    • Cyber Law: Intake 86
    • Intellectual Property Rights Laws: Intake 86

Note: Regular classes will be held in the evening in the Indian Law Institute ( Any three days in a week ) from 6pm to 8pm.

  • Online Certificate Courses:
    • Cyber Laws (This course includes fundamentals of Cyber law and Cyber world, Regulatory framework, Cybercrimes and E-Commerce)
    • IPRs and Information Technology In The Internet Age (This course includes basic laws of Patents, Copyright, Trademarks and Management in IPRs)

Note: The Certificate Courses will conduct online. The duration of certificate courses is three months. The batches will commence in May, October and March as per the schedule to be notified separately on the Institute’s website.

What Are The Eligibility Conditions For Admissions & Last Date Of Submission Of Application Form?

  1. For Ph.D. in Law:
    • An applicant holding LL.M. Degree from a recognized university with minimum 55% marks is eligible to apply. The application form complete in all respect along with a brief Research Plan (as per given format) shall be submitted for admission.

    • The candidates appearing in the qualifying examinations are also eligible to apply but their admission will be subject to production of proof of having acquired minimum prescribed qualification, at the time of admission.
    • If the result of the qualifying examination is not declared till the date of admission, his/her admission shall be provisional. Such candidate shall give an undertaking that he/she is taking the provisional admission at his/her risk and that he/she shall submit the result of qualifying examination on or 15TH SEPTEMBER, 2023 In case the candidate fails to submit his/her final result of qualifying examination to prove his/her eligibility on or before 15TH SEPTEMBER, 2023 for any reason whatsoever, his/her admission shall be treated as cancelled.
    • Last Date Of Submission Of Application Form: 21st April 2023
    • Date of Entrance Exam: 7th May 2023
  2. LL.M.-One Year Programme:
    • LL.B. Degree (with not less than 50% marks) from any University / Institution recognized by Bar Council of India as eligible for enrolment as an advocate in India. OR A Law Degree from a foreign university with at least 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent grade as per Association of Indian University (AIU) guidelines.
    • The candidates appearing in the qualifying examinations are also eligible to apply but their admission will be subject to production of proof of having acquired minimum prescribed qualification, at the time of admission. If the result of the qualifying examination is not declared till the date of admission, his/her admission shall be provisional. Such candidate shall give an undertaking that he/she is taking the provisional admission at his/her risk and that he/she shall submit the result of qualifying examination on or before 15TH SEPTEMBER, 2023 .

  3. PG Diploma Programmes:
    • Persons holding a Graduate Degree in any branch can apply for admission to the PG Diploma Programmes. Minimum qualification for admission to the P.G. Diploma Programmes (except Labour Law) is a Graduate Degree from a recognised University. Additional 5% weightage in marks will be given to the Law Graduates/CA/CMA/CS for admission to all Post Graduate Diploma Programmes where law is not the qualifying degree.
    • The minimum qualifications for admission to P.G. Diploma in Labour Law is L.L.B/M.A in Social Sciences (II Div).
    • There will be annual examination for PG Diploma Programmes.
    • Last Date Of Submission Of Application Form: 30th June 2023
  4. Online Certificate Courses:
    • Anyone who is pursuing / has pursued diploma or degree after 10+2 and has access to computer and Internet can apply for online Certificate Courses.

Note: Medium of instruction and examination of all the courses shall be English.
