“Yoga Karmashu Kaushalam” is the ingrained letter in the insignia of the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, which is the oldest IIT in this country. This literally means, “Excellence in action is Yoga”, which signifies its tenacity towards tradition and modernity. This determination of the institute is evident in its research outputs, placement drives and overall development of its student, teacher, and non-teaching community. “Dedicated to the service of the Nation” is the institute’s motto; imbibing this spirit, the institute has initiated courses in a field other than that of technology, viz; Law, Management, Social Sciences and Medical Sciences. This is pertinent for the wholesome growth of the Nation.
The Rajiv Gandhi School of Intellectual Property Law, the first of its kind in the IIT system was set up in 2006. It is a part of the global endeavor to integrate technology and law to build lawyers with expertise to deal with the legal issues in the interface of technology and law. The School offers three programs; LL.B with specialization in IP Rights, LL.M and Doctoral Program in Law. The global perspective is captured well in the academic program in which we offer diverse set of courses. A comparative study of law from different jurisdictions is also an important feature of many of our courses.
This course aims to help the participants in learning/understanding the fundamentals and advance strategy in IP. Further, they will get the opportunity to enhance their understanding of the field of MSME. The course will start on 24 July 2023, and the registration ends on 18 August 2023.
What Are The Details Of The Course?
- Title of the course: Entrepreneurship and IP Strategy
- Objective:
- To discuss intellectual property strategy to protect inventions and innovations of new ventures.
- To develop skills of commercial appreciation by allocating knowledge about substantive aspects of management, strategy and legal literature.
- The course will make participants appreciate the nature, scope and differences of IP, its different utilities and approaches
- The course will make participants to manage and strategize IP lifecycle effectively throughout the journey of start-up, in a time when it is aspired highly by theeconomy and society.
- Participants will learn the fundamentals and advanced strategies of IP. They will be given opportunity for understanding the same in MSME sector. They will be finallybe provided brief exposure about the valuation techniques and audits of IP.
- Mode of the course: Online Mode through SWAYAM MHRD platform
- Duration of the course: 8 weeks from 24 Jul 2023 to 15 Sep 2023
- Eligibility: Any discipline from Undergraduate/Postgraduate programme

- Certificate: A Certificate will be given to all participants of the Certificate Course.
- The course is free to enroll and learn from. But if you want a certificate, you have to register and write the proctored exam conducted by us in person at any of the designated exam centres.
- The exam is optional for a fee of Rs 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only).
- Date and Time of Exams: 24 September 2023 Morning session 9am to 12 noon; Afternoon Session 2pm to 5pm.
- Certificate will have your name, photograph and the score in the final exam with the breakup.It will have the logos of NPTEL and IIT Kharagpur .
