What Is Competition Commission Of India (CCI)?

The Competition Commission of India, which has been established by the Central Government with effect from 14th October 2003consists of a Chairperson and 6 Members appointed by the Central Government. It is the duty of the Commission to eliminate practices having adverse effect on competition, promote and sustain competition, protect the interests of consumers and ensure freedom of trade in the markets of India. The Commission is also required to give opinion on competition issues on a reference received from a statutory authority established under any law and to undertake competition advocacy, create public awareness and impart training on competition issues.

What Are The Details Of The Job Opportunity?

• Job Post: 03 members in Competition Commission of India
• Eligibility:
  1. applications from Judges of High Courts and District Judges must be accompanied with copies of 10 judgments pronounced by them on commercial and complex civil matters; and
  2. applications from Advocates, Chartered Accountants, Cost Accountants and Company Secretaries must be accompanied with copies of Income Tax Returns for last 03 years and copies of 10 judgments, where they have either argued or provided assistance.
• Location of Job: The selected candidate will be required to serve at the headquarter of the Competition Commission of India. The location of the CCI is to be in Delhi/NCR.
• Qualifications: As per the Competition Act, 2002 a person of ability, integrity and standing and who has special knowledge of, and such professional experience of not less than fifteen years in, international trade, economics, business, commerce, law finance, accountancy, management, industry, public affairs or competition matters, including competition law and policy, which in the opinion of the Central Government, may be useful to the Commission is eligible for appointment as Member of the Competition Commission of India.
• Tenure: Five years or till the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier
