I interned under the guidance of Hon’ble Justice Rakesh Ranjan Rrasad. High court of Jharkhand was established as a separate court in the year 2000. Before this it was a part of Bihar Bench. High Court is situated in the middle of the city near IG residence doranda, opposite to MECON (a unit of SAIL) Ranchi.

Researching on various laws of the criminal justice arena & finding landmark cases. To prepare short notes on the criminal law topics already studied. I was asked to prepare notes on dying declaration & to relate with sec -376 of Indian Penal Code, law relating to adoption in India etc.
The work environment is very favorable for each & every intern under the valuable guidance of Sir, as he personally tries to interact with each & every intern after the court hours. The Chief Justice Hon’ble Mr.Virendra Singh Sir personally holds a joint interaction with all the interns interning under different judges. Every Friday after the court hours we had interaction on different subject matters this was assigned by Chief justice Sir to different judges. At the office we had 2 clerks who were always there to help us in any way. This was extremely wonderful experience.
None (You don’t really expect any stipend at such a place)
I went first to the Registrar General of the High Court. He accepted the internship letter & asked his P.A to take me to Sir. On entering in his office he welcomes me & asked me to go & watch the court proceedings & to meet him during the lunch hours. The Judge is extremely learned & knowledgeable. Interning under Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rakesh Ranjan Prasad was definitely an enriching experience.
There were discussions on various issues, some of them related to the cases that were filed filed in the High Court & discussed on the particular day & others were mostly the cases & laws he gave us to study on. I even got the chance to interact with Mr. K.K Venugopal Sir senior advocate Supreme Court of India as he was pleader there for Mr. Lalu Prasad Yadav. His way of argument was just splendid. When he was arguing there was complete silence & also the court room was full. I even got an opportunity to watch a six judges bench proceeding which was relating to contempt of court proceeding against a lawyer. Besides we had access to impressive judge’s library where we spent our lunch breaks catching up on all the law journals & other books.
The court room was always bridled with extensive arguments on cases with pertaining issues & competent lawyers handling the same as well. The court room experience was another great experience that taught us a lot.
The internship experience at High Court turned out to be interesting, useful & lively as opposed to my original thoughts that it would be boring.
