BALLB-Final Year
Judicial Internship under Hon’ble Justice Ms. Gita Mittal (Delhi High Court), New Delhi.
4 weeks, 4th April, 2016 – 30th April, 2016.
10 A.M to 5.30 – 6 P.M.
I reported to the Mam’s Private Secretary Office (Delhi High Court). Were introduced to the Law Researchers and Court Staff.
I straight away directed to attend court proceedings in court room. And, the first impression- well nothing can beat the thrill of watching a High Court proceeding for the first time. No formalities whatsoever.
Delhi High Court infrastructure cannot be questioned, although the P.A’s cabin where we used to work isn’t particularly very large, although there is enough space to accommodate the Legal Researchers and Interns.
We had to attend all the proceedings starting at 10 A.M to 4 P.M. Although, if work came we had to shift to the P.A’s chamber and work on the files.
Followed by clerical tasks which included making summary of the current cases which included Writ Petitions and Brief making for the Family matters.
Mr. Kapil Sharma (PA to HMJ Gita Mittal) is one of the coolest and funniest mentors one can ever have.
He guided us during our initial stages of work. One can easily adapt into the environment within a few days. The team I was on was very hard working and got the job done within the stipulated time.
As those matters we worked on were to be heard the very next day.
Quality work. Very friendly environment. Amazing Delhi High Court Lawyer’s canteen.
I don’t find any bad thing in this internship.
None
People generally tend to not take internships very seriously. But opportunities like this do not come very often. I wouldn’t have learned the basics of how a court room actually works, if not for this internship.
It was a good learning experience.
