About the Journal

Jindal Law and Humanities Review (JLHR) is a student-run, peer-reviewed publication, brought out by Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University. The journal, by challenging the distinction between law and non-law and positing the relationship between law and society as foundational to jurisprudence, constitutionalism and everyday realities of law, aims to address the lacuna between law and the methods and tools of social science and humanities.

We wish to further the enterprise inaugurated by interdisciplinary journals in India and around the world by delving into the ways of engaging with sociology, anthropology, legal literature and the like, while provoking a larger experience of producing varied forms of work on law and humanities.

Call for Papers

The essence of the journal is to ponder the link between law and society and crack open its fault lines. To this effect, we are keen on hosting both written academic work and non -traditional, creative forms of expression beyond written academic work. This would include Research articles, Legal ethnographies, Literature review, Book Reviews, Essays, Visual essays, Commentaries, Prose and Poems, Paintings, Cartoons, Photographs, Video Essays.

To address these points of a discourse, Jindal Law and Humanities Review invites original, unpublished, creative, interdisciplinary chapters for its maiden issue in August 2020.

Theme

There is no theme, However, we encourage interdisciplinary submissions which show an intersection between law and humanities.

Eligibility

Prospective contributors may belong to any discipline. We are accepting submissions from Undergraduate Students, Research scholars, Academicians, Legal ethnographers, Sociologists, Historians, Poets, Writers, Visual studies scholars, Artists etc.

Fee details

There is no publication fee.

Submission guidelines

Each submission must have an Abstract of the work which must not exceed 300 words and must indicate the theme worked upon and must satisfy the vision of the journal. The word/picture/duration limits for submissions are as follows:

• Research Articles: 5000-7000 words
• Legal Ethnography: Minimum of 4000 words
• Essays: Minimum of 3000 words.
• Commentaries: 2500- 3000 words.
• Book/Literature Review: 2000-3000 words.
• Prose and Poems: Maximum 500 Words.
• Visual Essays: Minimum of 10 Photographs.
• Video Essays: Maximum 10 Minutes.

Original Non-verbal entries such as artworks, paintings, photographs, cartoons are also accepted.

Specific Guidelines for Written Works

• Potential contributors must adhere to required citations as per OSCOLA, Fourth Edition.
• Font: Times New Roman, Font size: 12 (Size 10 for footnotes)
• Written works must have double-spacing.
• Submissions must follow Oxford British English format, for e.g. British English spellings (-ise instead of -ize, Numbers below ninety-nine must be in words and above it in digits etc.)
• Abstracts and final submissions should be submitted as Word documents (.docx) with a covering letter containing name and designation of the author and should be emailed to jlhr@jgu.edu.in.
• The authors of accepted papers and select non-verbal submissions shall then go through the process of double-blinded peer review and expert guidance.

• Note-The Editorial Board of Jindal Law and Humanities Review holds the sole discretion in accepting and rejecting any submissions.
