The Corporate Law Society (CLS) of NLUJ was established in 2014, with the primary objective of fostering discussions related to corporate law. To facilitate such discussions, we host stimulating lectures given by eminent corporate lawyers on contemporary issues relating capital markets, to banking and finance, competition laws, mergers and acquisitions, projects, etc.

The Corporate Law Society of National Law University (NLU), Jodhpur is pleased to announce the 6th Pranita Mehta Memorial Essay Competition, 2022 in memory of Ms. Pranita Mehta, an exceptional student of NLU, Jodhpur.

The Competition is open to all students pursuing under-graduate (three/five year) or post-graduate law degrees from any law school/university/college recognised by the Bar Council of India.

.Pranita excelled in her academic pursuits at NLU, Jodhpur, and was the recipient of numerous awards at international moot court contests.

Pranita, a corporate law aficionado, was also one of the first in her class to get hired by a Tier-1 legal firm in India. She exemplified not only the ideal student, but also the perfect balance of charm and happiness. Pranita, also known as a lively all-rounder, had a profound impact on everyone’s lives as a key source of inspiration and delight.

Rewards

Winners shall be awarded the following prize money:

  • First Prize: Rs. 25,000/
  • Second Prize: Rs. 15,000/
  • Third Prize: Rs 10,000/
  • Publication with JCLG: The winning essay will also be published in the well-reputed on Corporate Law Governance [JCLG”]. and Journal
  • Internship with IndusLaw: Top three winners of the Competition will also get the opportunity to intern with IndusLaw.
  • Merit Certificates: Top ten submissions will also be given merit certificates.

Submission Requirements

  • Only MS Word (.doc/docx) documents will be accepted. No PDF forms will be accepted.
  • Formatting Instructions:
  • Main text font and size, as well as footnote font and size. For the main text, use Times New Roman 12 point, and for footnotes, use Times New Roman 10 point.
  • Size and alignment: A4 size with a 1 inch margin on all sides; all text is justified except headings.
  • Footnoting: The participant must use the same citation style throughout the work.
  • Submissions should be 1.5 spaces apart (except footnotes which may be single spaced).
  • The submission has a word restriction of 2000-3000 words (excluding abstract and footnotes). The abstract should not exceed 300 words.
  • Plagiarism: Any entry found to contain more than 25% plagiarised material will be disqualified from the competition.
  • Anonymity: The participant must not include his or her name in any way in the content of the contribution.
  • Co-authorship: Up to two co-authors are permitted.
  • Any entry that had previously been published will be disqualified. CLS retains the copyright of the contribution.
  • In the event of a conflict, CLS will have the ultimate say on the guidelines.
  • If a participant is submitting an assignment/project that has already been submitted to their university’s Turnitin repository, CLS demands that the participant send the Turnitin report indicating that the plagiarism percentage is less than 25%.
  • It is not necessary to pay a registration fee to enter the competition.
