Operational Area:

Bail and Writ Specialist

Duration of the Internship:

16th June to 25th July 2015

Timing:

10a.m. to 5p.m.

Main Task Work Profile:

Our Schedule was like in morning attending court proceedings, after lunch researching in the High Court Library cases related to a given set of facts and finally in the evening giving report of our research. Apart from that I had to prepare a brief notes on those cases which belongs from our office and are being heard on the same date.

Sometimes I was given work of drafting & notice reply. The matters were primarily related to bail and writ petitions.

The work environment was fine and there were a lot of books that you can refer to in the office. This was my first legal internship and I was slightly apprehensive of my work skills and if I’d understand anything at all but to my surprise and contrary to my belief, I did.

Work Environment at office:

Work environment was friendly and suitable for the new learners. We have the freedom to have “chai and samosa” whenever we wanted.

First day at organization:

The first day at organisation was full of nervousness but by the grace of God I overcome it. I was introduced to Senior Advocate Yogesh Chandra Verma and his team of juniors. They were friendly and welcoming. I was asked to sit inside the Sir’s cabin and witness his meetings with clients.  Later I prepared a list of dates in writ matters.

Best Part of Internship:

For the first time I learnt the fine technicalities of legal drafting there.

Biggest Lesson:

“The life of an advocate is not a bed of roses.”

Anything else you’d like to tell:

Working as Intern under High Court Senior Advocate provides the chances to be closely acquainted with the proceeding of the High Court and heated debate on contemporary legal topics in his chambers,

Any Message to other Law Students:
