Once the internship is confirmed, you will receive a mail regarding the duration of the internship. In my case, I received a mail in an hour.

Duration of Internship and Timings

Four weeks.  25th November 2019- 18th December 2019.

Monday to Friday: 09.30 am to 7.00 pm.

Saturday: 10.00 am to 5.30 pm.

First Impression, First Day Formalities, Infrastructure

The office is situated on the ground floor of Door no: G-37, it has adequate space fully Air Conditioned, I had to report by 9.30 am, after which I had to meet Shri. Sriman Kumar, Associate of the firm he was very cooperative and encouraging. I had to take case files to the NCDRC as my initial work. Being a noob to Delhi, I got stranded at some other place and had to return to the office.

They are quite strict about the dress, and the interns had to adhere to courtroom dress code except on Saturdays.

Main Tasks

Both the Partners and Associates assign works to the interns. I had to do a variety of drafting work such as drafting of Impleadment Petitions, Transfer Petitions. I was also asked to prepare List of Dates and Synopsis of the cases that were assigned to me. I was assigned to work on the legal points and research on various aspects relating to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, Companies Act, 2013, Pension Scheme, Land Law, Constitution Law, Taxation Law.

I had to go to various courts and tribunals like the High Court, Supreme Court, National Company Law Tribunals and National Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission.

Work Environment, People

All the partners, associates and staffs are constructive and approachable. There were two associates at the time when I interned, Shri. Sriman Kumar and Shri. Ish Karan, both are young, friendly and helpful too.

Also, Avi sir and Aneesh sir, necessarily asked questions regarding the work assigned. Hence it’s quite an engaging procedure. However, there is a dearth for work, and you will not get work. Even when we approach them with irrelevant case laws and queries, they were not making me feel uncomfortable or helpless, but rather, they give us tips and tricks to do better researching.

The amount of readings that are assigned to the interns is quite enriching. Also, the numerous times coffee was served everyday is a perfect refreshment after a tiring day of work.

Overall it was indeed an outstanding and enriching experience. The training that we indulge in realises the difficulty of this profession and encourages us to research in detailed.

Comparing to my previous internships, I felt there weren’t works assigned to me. And at times we get high pressure cause of the lack of confidence.

Accommodation and commuting to the office

One of my family friend had an apartment at Mayur Vihar, so I stood there.

Delhi is blessed to have an effective yet cheap public transportation system. The Delhi metro, DTC buses, online cab services and conventional transportation systems are in place.
