About CLAT 

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance exam for admissions to candidates in undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law courses offered at 22 NLUs and other colleges/ universities accepting exam scores.

Till 2018, the exam was conducted by NLUs on a rotational basis. However, from 2019 onwards it is being conducted by a permanent body formed by the universities, i.e. The Consortium of NLUs. The consortium has its headquarter at NLSIU Bangalore and comprises:

CLAT Eligibility Criteria 2020

To appear for CLAT exam, candidates need to fulfil the eligibility criteria as under:

CLAT Eligibility for five-year Integrated courses:

  • Candidates who have completed 10+2 or equivalent examination for national or state board of education.
  • They should have obtained minimum 45% marks if belonging to General/ Other Backward Class (OBC) / Specially-abled categories and 40% marks if belonging to Scheduled Class (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories.
  • There is no age limit to apply CLAT 2020 as the Bar Council of India (BCI) as removed the upper or lower age limit criteria for admissions to law courses.

The exam calendar of CLAT 2020 is out now, and the exam will be held as per the schedule below:

CLAT 2020 official notification for exam date 21-Nov-2019 In a press meet, CLAT Consortium announced the exam date and few changes in the exam pattern of CLAT 2020.
CLAT 2020 detailed notification 14-Dec-2019 In another press meet held on December 11, the consortium has approved the exam schedule and changes in the exam pattern of CLAT UG and LLM.
Online registrations for CLAT 2020 begins 01-Jan-2020 The online application window of CLAT 2020 started on the official website.
Last date of application submission  31-Mar-2020 All steps of application form need to be completed.
Release of admit cards By the first or second week of May 2020 Candidates will be issued admit card in online mode to appear for the examination.
CLAT 2020 exam date 10-May-2020 Appear for the examination at the allotted test centre as per the scheduled date and time. Carry the admit card along with a valid Photo Id proof.
Display of CLAT 2020 results and merit list 24-May-2020 CLAT consortium will declare the results of CLAT 2020 as well as publish the merit list for each NLU on the official website.
