National Commission for Women

The National Commission for Women was set up as statutory body in January 1992 under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990 (Act No.20 of 1990 of Govt.of India) to review the Constitutional and legal safeguards for women; recommend remedial legislative measures, facilitate redressal of grievances and advise the Government on all policy matters affecting women.

Women’s Development Cell

The Women’s Development Cell is an active forum that engages with fundamental and existential issues.

About the Seminar

Kalindi College (University of Delhi), Women’s Development Cell with support of National Commission for Women (NCW) is organising One-day National Seminar on Engendering Laws & Crimes against Women: Challenges & Prospects.

Call for Papers

Themes 

  • Sociology of crime against women: Sociological & illegal aspects of crimes committed on women.
  • Laws that impact upon women’s rights: PWDVA, PC & PNDT, ITPA, Sexual Harassment of women at workplace & any other.
  • Prominent judgements that have transformed gender justice.
  • Challenges & prospects of the criminal justice system in India.

Guidelines

  1. An abstract of not more than 300 words. Kindly mention the theme under which the paper has to be submitted.
  2. Final paper shall be between 3000-5000 words.
  3. All submissions shall be in MS Word format (.doc or .docx) in Times New Roman font (Main text: size 12 & double spaced, footnote: size 10 & single-spaced).
  4. Co-authorship up to two authors is permitted.
  5. Submission of abstract & full paper shall be made to the organising secretary at kcncwconf2020@gmail.com.
  6. The paper or any part thereof should not have been published earlier. Plagiarism will result in disqualification of the entry.
  7. Submission of the full paper is mandatory for paper presentation at the seminar.
