About:

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) invites short films for its ‘Short Film Award Scheme – 2017’, which aims at recognizing the creative efforts towards promotion and protection of human rights.

The film may be in any technical format. These may be in any Indian language with sub-titles in English . The prize money for the first, second and third best film will be Rs.1 lakh, Rs.75 thousand and Rs.50 thousand, respectively.

Who can compete:

Any Indian citizen can send his/her entry. There is no bar on the number of films sent by an individual for competing in the NHRC’s Short Film Award Scheme. However, each application should have one film only and films sent once for the NHRC’s award scheme may not compete again under this scheme.

The applicant should attach his/her identity, such as, Aadhar Card, Voter Identity Card, PAN Card, Driving License or any other valid proof of identity issued by a Government authority.

Theme of the film:

Human rights issues. Each entry should accompany brief theme and synopsis of the film in writing.

Language of the film:
 Any Indian language with sub-titles in English or in English.
Method to apply:
  • Duly filled in application form along with requisite documents, DVD of the film and its theme and synopsis kept inside an envelope should reach to the Deputy Director (Media & Communication), National Human Rights Commission, Manav Adhikar Bhawan, ‘C’ Block, GPO Complex, INA, New Delhi – 110 023 . The applicant should write his/her complete postal address, telephone and mobile number as well as e-mail address in the application form.
  • The film DVD should be carefully packed to avoid damage and should clearly mention “Entry for short film award on human rights issues”. The NHRC, India will not be responsible for the damages, if any, to the DVD in transit. xii) Mode of dispatch: Entries can be sent by post or submitted by hand at the NHRC’s Central Registry Unit. Soft copies by e-mail will not be accepted.
Last date:
 The entries received after the 15th September, 2017 will not be entertained.
