About the Course:
The Patent Law, as it began several decades ago was necessary to spur inventions and innovations that benefit both the inventor or innovator and mankind at large. However, the current Patent regime is an outcome of a continual demand of a less stressful life to which the industries have provided a befitting reply- so much so, that a wrist watch can now play music and make calls. India’s patent law structure is often criticized and termed as being unnecessarily stringent in comparison to the supposedly developed, a more sophisticated legal structure like the United States. Though bound by a world regulator, there is a constant struggle between the nations which invites a study of their individual patent laws. How much regulation is acceptable in order to strike a balance between protecting an invention and catering to the needs of a developing nation?
This course aims to give an in-depth understanding of Patent Law and its fundamentals, the requirements of patentability, drafting, reading and interpretation of patent specifications and patent office procedures.
